The Duchess of Cambridge is one super stylish lady. Even back in her pre-royal days when she was merely Kate Middleton, she was always the picture of elegance and grace in outfits that managed to walk the fine line between timeless and trendy. But it turns out, even if every person in the free world considers you one of the most fashionable women alive, that won’t necessarily land you in the Queen’s good graces. As it turns out, Queen Elizabeth has a serious bone to pick with the Duchess’s choice in footwear.
Once upon a time, Kate’s go-to shoe of choice was a trusty pair of cork wedges from Stuart Weitzman, but once she got back from touring through Australia and New Zealand those stacked heels seem to have totally disappeared from her regular rotation. Apparently, that’s because the Queen has a serious vendetta against wedge heels. A source told Vanity Fair that, “The Queen isn’t a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn’t like them and it’s well known among the women in the family.” Guess she’ll just have to settle for wearing them around in the privacy of her royal chambers.
