Mayden Hollywood’s pop-rock song “Hollywood” has been nominated in the Best Song category of the 2015 Best of British Unsigned Music Awards (UMA). The awards, launched in 2012, are presented by Best of British Unsigned which is the United Kingdom’s (UK) leading website for “unsigned music” supplying a weekly radio show for 70 FM stations in 15 countries. Mayden Hollywood is a British born American producer, singer and songwriter. He learned the basics of the music business working with Balance Productions in New York City where he sometimes auditioned up to 300 performers a day looking for great new talent. Later he was associated with Starstruck Productions and as a fan of underground hip-hop worked with Kurupt DJ Mohamed, Young Zee and Pace Won. Mayden currently lives in Los Angeles in the neighborhood of his nominated .
He said, “Today music is considered to be a culturally enriching art form and I am very proud to be a part of it. There has been no better time to be a recording artist than now”. His music delivers an appealing commercial sound, lyrical melodic storytelling which he calls Audio Art.
The song “Hollywood” contrasts the town’s celebrated image with the roller coaster good and bad times of many of the people who live there. For production he called upon the talents of Skip Saylor and Ian Blanch, session musicians Thomas Harris and Mike Reason and backup vocals by Jolina Star. A sample of the lyrics: “The sun always shines over Hollywood, you can be what you want today ‘cause it doesn’t matter, this is Hollywood and we’re all actors in our own screen play”.
